about us

Why the black cockatoo?

The black cockatoo announces the coming of rain and represents change and strength after adversity. At The Stress and Trauma Clinic we have been witness to incredible stories of difficulty, and in turn have seen how with the appropriate supports, children and adults are able to recover and thrive.

The Stress & Trauma Clinic use trauma-focused and evidence-based practices tailored to the needs of the client. Honouring the client as the expert of their experiences in conjunction with our specialised knowledge as clinicians, we work together to improve your quality of life and expertise. We use the black cockatoo, the bird who survived and flourished through fire, as our symbol of strength, courage, and confidence.

I am an Accredited mental health social worker. For over 25 years I’ve been dedicated to helping people through some of the hardest times in their lives. I have experience in supporting clients in addressing  trauma, child abuse, sexual assault, workplace psychological injuries, chronic pain, eating disorders and grief and loss. I have a special interest in working with clients to address symptoms of  depression & anxiety, post traumatic stress disorder and phobias. I work with both children, teenagers and adults of all ages.

I am trained in and use a variety of therapeutic approaches including Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT). I work with my clients to determine their goals and treatment plans.

Prior to private practice, I worked in a variety of settings including community-based mental health services, inpatient mental health units and hospitals.  I moved to private practice so I can fully support children, teenagers and adults with their mental health challenges offering flexibility and quality care. I am committed to providing consistency and genuine support in a safe, private and welcoming space.

A bit about me personally –  I love dogs, I’m a keen skier in winter and love the beach in summer.
